The Weekend Edition

Worthy scored a little feature write up in this week's update of The Weekend Edition Gold Coast! Frothing. Have a read below or check it out here

Hit the pavement on a cruiser from Worthy Skateboards

A throwback to a time when the shorts were short and hair was long, Worthy Skateboards’ shortboards, cruisers and longboards are an ode to the 1960s and 1970s.

Designed to recreate the look and feel of the originals, Worthy Skateboards are as much a beautiful piece of nostalgic art as they are an efficient mode of transport. Handmade locally by Tyler Bignell, Worthy Skateboards are created from eco-salvaged and recycled Australian hardwood timbers that are ethically procured as a result of storm and cyclone damage, erosion, government earthworks and road clearing so they’re more than worthy of your pretty pennies.

Aesthetically, the decks are minimalist to let the beautiful timber shine and are finished with clear varnish and a Gold Coast beach sand layer for extra grip. Worthy Skateboards are handmade to order so be patient as it can take two to three weeks for delivery. Your patience will be rewarded with a truly one-of-a-kind board that will serve you well on the journey of life.

Salvaged Tasmanian Oak

Many thanks to my Dad Jeff for scoring Worthy some beautiful salvaged Tasmanian Oak blanks... They came from a demolition yard up on the Sunshine Coast. Dressed all round they have come up an absolute treat! It's more caramel than the Qld Maple, while lighter and less tight than the Red Carrabeen so it's going to be a great option for custom sleds. It has an eye-catching loose dark grain running through it too which looks great coated clear. Gonna be sick! If you're keen to line it up for your custom stick be sure to shoot us an enquiry through the contact form!

Rainy days at Worthy HQ

A rare rainy & windy day on the Gold Coast means it's time to get some work done at Worthy HQ...

Who better to help out with this week's orders than Millhouse a.k.a @millpondsoycandles, sander and brander extraordinairre!

Aside from being a first class singer with earmuffs on she also makes a pretty mean packed lunch for the shed!

Flat day fun

Flat and windy = skate park fun with a recently purchased set of Carver C4 street surfing trucks. Suuuper loose and ridiculously fun! Never skated anything like them. Maybe I did a few too many lay backs though haha... Shot on iPhone 4 with a fish eye attachment :)

Worthy Skateboards x QT Hotel

A handful of special one-off commissioned Worthy boards have found a new home in the lobby boutiques of QT Hotel Gold Coast & QT Port Douglas!

Pretty epic to have some sleds on display alongside other unique gifts in such modern funky hotels

Their request was for some boards that are really different, and fit in with their modern, bright colour scheme of fluoros and patterns...

The results were pretty dope and have posted a few pics here to get a bit of an idea of what's gone in for display.

If you're headed past either hotel, drop in for a drink or a bite and check the boutique out... There's some really rad gear from bespoke designers and local craftsmen/women... Yew
